High Action, High Risk

CGI is making it easier and more cost effective to create special effects and action scenes, but it also helps reduce risk, according to Yvonne Cordova, who leads the filmed media business at ProSight, which provides film and completion guaranty insurance in the US and through its Lloyd’s syndicate.

“CGI means that actors and stunt professionals are in far less danger, which is important to underwriters who want to see the public, cast and stunt people protected,” she said.

Underwriters are always concerned with action and stunt scenes, which is why ProSight employs a full time risk control expert to visit film sets and assess the risk of each scene, explains Cordova.
