‘Tis the Season: Giving Back through the Community Giving Fund

ProSight and Tangram recently teamed up to announce the inaugural year of our Community Giving Fund. We’ve awarded a total of 25 grants to community-based nonprofit organizations located throughout California, and we could not be more excited.

One of the many highlights in awarding grants during this time of year is that we’re able to support organizations with meaningful holiday initiatives, like Gateway Center of Monterey County’s Holiday Fund for Adults.  For more than three decades, Gateway Center has worked with adults with developmental disabilities by providing a wide range of services, including residential care, developmental training and activity programs throughout the county.

Gateway Executive Director, Stephanie Lyon describes the Holiday Fund as their “community effort in bringing happy holidays to Gateway’s residential clients” as many do not have any source of income to purchase presents or are alone and without any family with whom to celebrate the season.  “From holiday cuisine to festive décor and gifts for our clients, the Holiday Fund is the means by which we bring Christmas cheer to our clients who need it most.”

Gateway Center was nominated for a $2,500 Community Giving Fund grant by their insurance agent, Debbie Upland from BPIA.  “She really sees us as a mission of love, rather than an insurance client.  It’s nice that there are for profit companies out there who can really see what we are doing and recognize our effort,” said Stephanie.

Even as a Gateway employee for more than 15 years and its Executive Director for three years, Stephanie is still touched when the organization receives a donation. “It gets harder and harder to obtain funding, and donations like this help our clients get out into the community where they can be visible and prosper. It really renews my faith in our communities when we receive new funding.”

The inaugural Community Giving Fund grants range from $500 to $5,000 and support a wide array of unique nonprofit programs and services. From child abuse prevention and crisis intervention to community center, shelter and senior center support, each of the grants assist organizations that are directly impacting the communities they serve. To view the complete list of recipients, please click here.
